Busia Governor lauds PATH Kenya over HIV/Aids programs

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has thanked  PATH Kenya over  HIV/Aids programs  it is undertaking in the County since 2011.

Speaking  when he met PATH Kenya team led by County Director Anthony Okoth in his office on  Thursday, the Governor said Non Governmental Organizations  continue to play  a key role in the socio-economic development of the County.

” My Government will  convene a meeting of all our partners so that we chat the way forward  on how we can partner  in various fields,” he said.

He thanked  the County Director  for the support the NGO gave to his Government during the  Doctors strike by availing their  doctors to  treat patients.

Okoth said Busia  was their key stakeholder, adding that they were in the Border County  to review some of the work they  did together with the county teams.

” Through APHIA -PLUS  we are helping identify  HIV patients, diagnose and put them on treatment. Currently  we have 780 patients  in Busia who are on treatment and we have done over  253,000  patients  in terms of HIV testing.

We work  closely with the county government to identify people who are HIV positive.  We put them on treatment and  then work with county teams to ensure they  are well managed,” he said.
