BOOST FOR LREB AS 470km BUMALA-MUHURU BAY ROAD SET TO START

The Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) is set for a big boost once the construction of the 470 kilometre road along the shores of Lake Victoria starts.

The design of the Sh70billion road from Bumala in Busia County to Muhuru Bay in Migori   has been approved. The feasibility study and design cost Sh300m.

The National Government is waiting for the report to ascertain the number of people to be displaced before compiling compensation register.

Kenya is sourcing for funds from donor agencies like the World Bank and the African Development Bank.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to tour the region later this month where he will unveil more details on the project.
