Busia Scrabble Team rewrites KICOSCA history

Busia football players celebrate their first goal against Kiambu on Wednesday.

Busia Scrabble team rewrote KICOSCA history in their maiden participation at Nyanchwa TTC with three players taking top four positions.

Alphonce Kajonjo took first position with 9 wins, 3 losses and a spread of + 1056. Stephen Amwai took second position with 9 wins, 3 losses and a spread of +930 while Captain Eric Wamalwa took fourth position with 8 wins , 4 losses and a spread of +930. They will be feted on Friday.

Busia Ajua team will play in tomorrow’s semifinals after overcoming Mombasa in the quarterfinals today at   Nyanchwa TTC here in Kisii today.

Ward Administrator Stephen Buluma who is leading the team will meet either Bungoma or Uasin Gishu in the last four tomorrow. Buluma has promised a podium finish after their third finish in Machakos last year.

Busia men’s volleyball club stormed the quarterfinals of the KICOSCA games in Kisii today as the games entered the third day here.

Busia survived an early scare to beat Kiambu 3-1 (22-25, 25-20,25-20, 27-25) to guarantee themselves a place in the last eight. The women’s team were beaten in the round of 16 by Uasin Gishu who beat them in straight sets.

Busia men and women’s tug-of-war teams sailed to the round of 16 after posting mixed results. The men’s team were pulled 2-0 by defending champions Nairobi before receiving a walkover against Bomet who chickened out. They had pulled Embu 2-0 on Tuesday and will meet Mombasa tomorrow.

The Ladies team secured a slot in the knockout phase after eclipsing Embu 2-0. They started on a sour note losing 0-2 to 2017 runners up before overcoming Machakos 2-0 today.

The Darts team have qualified for round of 16 after winning all their group matches beating Trans Nzoia, Muranga and Meru.

The men’s football team saw their ambition of reaching the last eight shattered by Kiambu who beat them 3-2 with Paul Anunda netting two goals for Kiambu to bring to 14, the number of goals he has scored in four matches. Louis Wambaki scored the other goal.

Busia scored through Jaffar Yakub and Meshack Otelenga.  Yakub blamed their defeat on lapse of defense and lack of concentration. He called for a good working relations between the technical and playing unit to achieve good results in future.

The netball team fell at the round of 16 after surrendering a 10-4 lead in the first quarter to lose 22-26 to Siaya County.

The Pool team led by Enaga King were equally unlucky losing to Narok in the round of 16. Busia choir were unlucky finishing in position 12 in set piece and 18th in folksong.  It is the turn of traditional dancers’ tomorrow with Ibodi luhya song and borrowed Luo song.
