Busia County Under-25 men’s soccer team held hosts Nandi to a goalless draw in the Kenya Youth Inter-county Sports Association (KYISA) Games that entered day two at Kapsabet High School Grounds on Tuesday December 18,2018.
Nandi opened the Games on a sound note on Monday when they trounced Makueni 3-0 in Group ‘A’ clash. Coach Patrick Mutai said they were unlucky to draw against the well drilled Busia team with the midfield and striking force playing composed game.
“I was also impressed with their central defender John Otieno who was never in a hurry while in possession of the ball. Those are the calibre of payers I need in my team,” he said.
Busia coach Felix Oucho said despite the fatigue they played their hearts out, and expressed optimism of excelling in their next matches against Makueni, Nakuru and Kakamega on Wednesday. In the other group ‘A’ match Kakamega and Nakuru settled for a 1-1 draw. Kakamega made amends in the second game to win 3-1 against Makueni.
Defending champions Kwale were given a scare before piping Narok 3-2 in their opening group B match. In the other match Kisumu beat Siaya 1-0. Kisumu trounced Narok 3-0 in the second game.
In basketball men, Busia got off to a flying start beating Turkana 65-23. They led 48-16 at half time.
