Busia Wolves in 10 points lead after beating MMUST 1-0 in the league encounter

Busia Wolves FC  took a commanding 10 points lead  on the log after beating  Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) 1-0  in a thrilling Football Kenya Federation  Division Two Western Region League played at  Busia County Stadium on Sunday.

 Douglas Okoth scored the lone goal after 65minutes of play  in the match watched by MMUST Vice Chancellor   Prof. Fred Otieno, Busia County Executive Committee Member for  Sports  Bernard Yaite and  Wolves Patron  Alex Ojumbo.

The unbeaten Wolves are now  in the lead with 36 points  from 15 matches. They are followed in second position  by MMUST with 26 points from the same number of matches.  Khwisero whom Wolves will meet on Sunday  are third on the table.

Club chairman  Hassan Ibrahim  said the boys were psyched by  the presence of  the CECM for sports  whom they wanted to prove a point that the club deserves to be sponsored by the County Government.

“We are only two years away from  playing  in the Kenya Premier League  if our current  form is anything to go by. Busia wants to emulate Bungoma, Kakamega and Vihiga Counties which have sponsored clubs  playing in top flight football,” he said.

Yaite applauded Busia Wolves for the win saying  he is happy that Busia  team can retain pole position in the league, adding that the County has produced  iconic players  at the national and international levels.

Yaite praised Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong for  setting  the pace  for sports to thrive in the county. ” I am going to  request for more funds   to complete the development  of the stadia in Busia and Malaba.

” Talks are  in the pipeline  for  defending  Kenya Premier League  champions Gor Mahia and former champions AFC Leopards to play Wolves in friendly matches at the Busia County Stadium,” he said.

MMUST VC  was happy with the quality of football displayed  and expressed need  for more ties

in research  and development . Earlier at the same venue Budalangi beat  Teso South 1-0  in the county primary school games.
