Over 20,000 youths from Busia County got a chance to attend a show at the Busia County Stadium hosted by one of the renowned and funniest artist in Africa, Eric Omondi.
Eric took the opportunity to educate the youths on the effects of drug abuse and early teenage pregnancy and how Busia youths can overcome this plaque.
Eric entered the Busia County Stadium in style escorted by over 50 motorcyclists from Busia County as a guest speaker and performer in an event dubbed ‘drug abuse awareness and early teenage pregnancy’ that was organised by the county government.
He was welcomed by cheers from the large crowd that had come to witness his amazing talent. In attendance was the director of Tourism, Mr Patrick Lumumba and County Youth Director Melody Nyongesa.
“I lost my elder brother last year to drug abuse which is among the main causes of teenage deaths across the country; Busia youths should try very hard to fight this vice destroying our nation,” he said, adding that youths should be empowered and be self driven in order from them to get jobs or be self employed.
“I am happy to see large number of youths who have attended this event and made it a success. Youths from Busia should not be involved in drug abuse,” said, County Director Alcoholic Drinks, Drug Abuse Control and Tourism, Patrice Lumumba.
He added: “School dropouts in the county are increasing at faster rate due to teenage pregnancy. Youths should be very cautious not to involve themselves in premarital sex.”
