In a departure from previous tradition, two County Executive Committee Members and four Chief Officers will represent the County in various disciplines during the Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural (Kicosca) Games in Kisii between August 12 and 18.
CECM for Public Works Dr. Janet Manyasi will feature in the traditional dance that captured the title in Thika in 2015. Her Trade and Cooperatives Colleague Judith Maketso will participate in netball.
Chief Officer for Public Service Management will participate in athletics and netball, Richard Achiambo (Animal Resources) will feature in football, Ruth Mukhongo (Agriculture) will participate in tug-of-war while Trade CO Stephen Nasiagi will feature in Volleyball.
Kisii Governor James Ongwae has unveiled Kisii stadium as the main venue for the 6th edition of the Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural (Kicosca) Games with an appeal to fellow governors to attend the great fete between August 12 and 18.
Busia County Public Service Board chairperson Assunmpta obore will carry the County’s flag in volleyball which she also doubles up as the team manager.
Meanwhile Kisii Governor has urged all the 47 governors to attend the games whose opening ceremony will be done at the refurbished Kisii Stadium.
Speaking on KTN’s Zilizala Viwanjani program on Thursday night, the governor said the attendance of the 47 governors will be a major boost to the games and motivation to about 8000 participants.
Ongwae has assured participants that security for participants is a deal that is already assured. We are a peaceful county with isolated cases of petty crimes. Visitors are welcome to the land of Matoke and they will enjoy it to the maximum,’’ he said.
Kisii is hosting the games with success story during the fourth edition in Thika when they shrugged off stiff opposition from star studded Nairobi to cinch the soccer title under the tutelage of former Harambee Stars striker Henry Motego.
Busia teams are gearing up for the annual games with a break from previous tradition when only junior staff took part in the games whose theme this year
