Deputy Governors decry rise in fuel costs

Deputy Governors from 47 counties across the country including H.E. Moses Mulomi of Busia County today decried the rising cost of fuel prices saying it will impact negatively on the economies of the counties and the abilities of their citizens to prosper.

In a statement signed by the Deputy Governor’s Forum chairman H.E. John Mwaniki after a consultative meeting in Nairobi, the Forum said the skyrocketing fuel prices will have direct implications on the cost of living for ordinary Kenyans citizens.

The DGs also supported President Uhuru Kenyatta’s initiative in the fight against corruption and both levels of governments must synergize their efforts in the fight against contraband goods.

They outlined their roles as principal assistants to the Governor and to ensure the administrative business is coordinated diligently under the stewardship of H.E. the Governors.

The Deputy Governors appealed to   Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to fill the position of Deputy Governor for sustained political governance.

In the spirit of handshakes, the DGs promised to deliver on the President’s “Big Four” Agenda in a streamlined manner for economic prosperity of the counties.

They vowed to remain committed to strengthening devolution by assisting the execution of constitutional and legislative instruments and organs for purposes of coordinated service delivery in counties.
