Family Bank of Kenya will increase Small and Medium Enterprises Funding to Busia County residents, the incoming Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Mbithi has revealed.
Speaking after paying a courtesy to Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong on Monday, the CEO designate said Busia County is the bank’s key investment partner with a lot of trade taking place.
“As an SME bank we plan to increase the level of support to Busia in areas of trade and Agriculture; this will go a long way in boosting the economy of the county which is the economic hub of Western region,” she said.
Flanked by Bank’s founder member Titus Muya, Ms Mbithi said Busia is the first county outside Nairobi she has visited since her appointment to the new position, a confirmation that it’s a major trading partner. The bank was the third to open a branch in Busia after KCB and NBK.
She said Busia branch of the bank has been in operation since 2007 and “we are in Busia for a lifetime.” Family Bank has 93 branches in 31 counties and it’s the fifth largest bank in customer base.
The Governor said the County will keep on engaging with Family Bank in various areas of mutual interest and which will help improve the economic well-being of county residents.
Others present included County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture and Animal Resources Dr Moses Osia and Chief Officer in the department Engineer Charles Achiambo.
