County Attorney and County Solicitor JOB POSTS

Busia County Public Service Board is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act 2012 whose mandate includes appointing persons to hold or act in the offices of County Public Service.

The County Government of Busia calls on all interested and suitably qualified persons to submit applications to serve as County Attorney and County Solicitor.

COUNTY ATTORNEY,  JOB GROUP ‘ R’ ( 1 Position)

 Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the County Secretary, duties and responsibilities will entail:  

-Be principal legal adviser to the county executive;  

-Represent the county executive in court or in any other legal proceedings to which the county executive is a party, other than criminal proceedings;

-Advise departments in the county executive on legislative and other legal matters;  -Negotiate, draft, vet and interpret documents and agreements for and on behalf of the county executive and its agencies;

-Responsible for the revision of county laws;

– Liaise with the Office of the Attorney-General and other agencies on legal matters when need arises; 

-Perform any other necessary function as may be directed for the effective discharge of the duties and the exercise of the duties of the County Attorney.

Requirements for Appointment

A person qualifies for appointment as County Attorney if such person-

-Is a Kenyan citizen;

-Has at least a Degree in law from recognized institution;

-Has at least seven years’ experience as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya; and

-Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

COUNTY SOLICITOR,   JOB GROUP ‘Q’ (1 Position)

Duties and Responsibilities

The County Solicitor shall be the principal assistant of the County Attorney in the execution of the functions of the County Attorney.

Requirements for Appointment

A person qualifies for appointment as County Solicitor if such person-

-Is a Kenyan citizen;

-Has at least a Degree in law from recognized institution;

-Has at least five years’ experience as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya; and

-Meets the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

NOTE:

All applicants are required to obtain clearance from the following institutions

  • The Criminal Investigation Department (CID)
  • The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
  • The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
  • The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)

Only shortlisted candidates will be contracted
