Pursuant to Article 235 (1) (b) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 and Section 59 (1) (b), of The County Governments Act No.17, 2012, The County Public Service Board of Busia invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill vacant positions in the Department of Agriculture and Animal Resources follows:

  1. Office Administrative Assistant III J/G “G”

Job Specification/Requirements

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education ,mean grade C-(Minus) with at least C (plain) in English or Kiswahili Language or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

(II)  Business education Single and Group Certificates (BES & GC) from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC)in the following subjects:

(a) Typewriting lll(40 w.p.m) /Computerized Documents Processing 111;

(b)Business English II/Communication I;

(c) Office practice I;

(d) Commerce I

OR

 Craft Certificate in secretarial studies from KNEC

  • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution and

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Taking oral dictation; word and data processing; managing e-office; ensuring security of office records, documents and equipment;
  • Maintaining an up to date filling system in the office; operating office equipment: managing office protocol;
  • Managing office petty cash; handling telephone calls and appointments;
  • Supervising office cleanliness and undertaking any other office administrative services duties that may be assigned.

 

  1. Office administrative Assistant IJ/G “J”

Job Specification/Requirements

Must have:-

Served in the grade of the office Administrative Assistant II for a minimum period of three (3) years

(I)Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education ,mean grade C-(Minus) with at least  C (plain) in English or Kiswahili Language or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

(II) Business education Single and Group Certificates (BES & GC) from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC)in the following subjects:

(a) Typewriting III (50 w.p.m) /Computerized Documents Processing III;

(b )Business English III/Communication I;

(c) Office practice I;

(d) Commerce II

(e) Secretarial Duties II

(f) Office management III or Office administration Management III    

OR

Craft Certificate in secretarial studies from KNEC

  • Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution and
  1. Shown merit

Duties and Responsibilities:

Institution; and

(ii) Certificate in computer application

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compiling statistical records;
  • Sorting, filing and dispatching letters;
  • Maintaining an efficient filing system;
  • Processing appointments, promotions, discipline, transfers and other related duties in human resource management;
  • Computation of financial or statistical records based on routine or special sources of information; Preparing payment vouchers; and
  • Compiling data and drafting simple letters.

 

  1. Agricultural Officer IJ/G “K”

Job Specification/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in any of the following fields:-Food Science, Home Economics,Agriculture,Horticulture,Agriculture Economics, Natural Resources Management, Agribusiness Extension, Agricultural Education or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management of information desks within the County.
  1. Assistant Fisheries Officer III J/G “H”

Job Specification/Requirements

  1. Diploma in either Fisheries management, Natural Resource management or equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution; and
  2. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting in delivering fisheries extension services including conducting field days and training fishers;
  • Collecting and compiling fisheries statistical data; and
  • Participating in fish quality assurance activities and marketing.
  1. Assistant livestock production officer IIIJ/G “H”

Job Specification/Requirements

  • Diploma in any of the following fields:- Animal Production, Dairy Science and Technology, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Animal Health and Production, Farm Management, Apiculture or Range/Natural Resource Management from a recognised Training Institution; and
  • certificate in computer applications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out practical demonstrations relating to livestock production;
  • Collecting and collating livestock data and information;
  • Accompanying extension teams during farm visits and farmer trainings;
  • Participating in field days and agricultural shows to disseminate livestock production technologies and information;
  • Collecting and collating livestock data and information for gross margins,
  • Market access and planning;
  • Participating in collaborative research activities;
  • Collecting livestock inputs and products samples for analysis; and
  • Advising farmers on group formation, construction of farm structures and equipment’s.

 

  1. Livestock Production Officer IJ/G “K”
  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Animal Science, Animal Production, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Range Management, Natural Resource Management, Livestock/Agricultural Economics, Dairy Technology, or Agricultural Education and Extension from a recognized Institution; and
  • certificate in computer applications.

Job Specification/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Animal Science, Animal Production, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Range Management, Natural Resource Management, Livestock/Agricultural Economics, Dairy Technology, or Agricultural Education and Extension from a recognized Institution; and
  • certificate in computer applications.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing livestock technical information;
  • Providing technical advice in animal production, livestock marketing, range management, apiculture, and ranching;
  • Promoting economic livestock farming; participating in organizing extension activities which include field days, agricultural shows, field demonstrations, farmer field schools and farm visits; Participating in collaborative research activities;
  • Collecting livestock inputs and products samples for analysis;
  • Disseminating livestock production technologies such as construction of Livestock housing and structures, milk production, pasture and fodder production and conservation, farm planning, gross margin analysis on farm feed formulation; implementing livestock production programmes/projects in such areas as dairy cattle farming, beef cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, rabbits, mating programmes, fodder production and conservation, value addition to livestock products, apiculture, emerging Livestock Programmes and other animal husbandry practices; and Capturing, maintaining and storing livestock data.

 

  1. Animal Health Assistant II J/G “G”

Job Specification/Requirements

  • Certificate lasting not less than two (2) years in any of the following disciplines: – Animal Health Environmental Health, Animal Health and Production from a recognized institution:
  • Be registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board; and

(iii) Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out simple treatment of animals;
  • Participating in disease search and reporting;
  • Demonstrating on milking techniques and external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying and dusting; carrying out vaccination; and
  • Undertaking closed castration, dehorning, de-worming, disbudding, docking, debeaking and hoof trimming.

 

  1. Fisheries Assistant IIJ/G “G”

Job Specification/Requirements

  1. Certificate in either Fisheries management, Natural Resource Management or an equivalent and relevant qualification from a recognized institution; and
  2. Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participating in the provision of fisheries extension services;
  • Collecting fisheries statistical date;
  • Maintaining fish farms and hatcheries; and
  • Assisting in ensuring hygienic fish handling at fish landing sites, markets and farms.

 

Additional requirements

  • Clearance from HELB where necessary
  • Clearance from the Ethics and anti-corruption commission
  • Certificate of good conduct from the police
