The joint National Government and Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) Task Force will visit Busia County on Wednesday January 16, 2019 on the final phase of its fact finding, LREB Chairman Wycliffe Oparanya has revealed.
In a communiqué at the end of the LREB Summit in Kisii on Friday, H.E Oparanya said the Bloc’s technical committee has been divided into three groups for the leaders’ consultative meetings and stakeholders forums.
Group Three will visit Busia County on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. They will tour Busia Sugar Industry in the morning and Olepito Sugar factory in the afternoon.
On January 17, the group will tour Mumias Sugar and Nzoia before completing their tour on January 18 with visit to Butali and West Kenya sugar factories in Kakamega County.
Group Two will tour Chemelil on January 16, Muhoroni in Nyanza and Soin in Kericho on January 17 and Kibos and Miwani in Kisumu County on January 18.
Group One will visit Sukari in Homa Bay on January 16, Sony Sugar on January 17 and Trans Mara in Narok County on January 18.
H.E Oparanya said the Taskforce will before the fact finding tours, hold a meeting in Kisumu on January 15 that will bring together Members of parliament from the LREB region, senators, women representatives, Governors and other stakeholders in the sugar sector.
