Busia County shine at regional primary school games in Kaimosi

Busia County  was the star attraction  in  term two regional  primary school games that ended at Kaimosi Teachers Training College  on Friday, winning  three titles , finishing  second in  four  disciplines and third position in  four events.

Busia  upset the form book to  beat hosts Kakamega  County 1-0 in the final of the  soccer boys action to send  warning  that football is indeed made in Busia County.

The lone goal was scored by  Gilbert  Abala of  Bubamba Primary School in  Bunyala Sub County. Busia was  eliminated in the preliminary round last year.

Busia were winners in Girls gymnastics  with  10-time national champions Bugengi  Primary from Matayos Sub County  retaining the title to secure a ticket for the national  championships in  Nyeri starting July  25, 2018.

They  top-scored with  78 per cent.  Nambacha from Nabakholo  took second position with  72%. The county  also clinched the  boys  gymnastic  crown with Emakina scoring  78%, ahead of  Marinda primary from Matungu who  scored 74%.

In  soccer girls Busia  took second position  after  losing  0-1 to hosts Kakamega in the final. They  were also runners up  handball boys  after losing 32-35 to   Bungoma  and  in netball girls  where they lost 34-36 to  Bungoma.

Busia finished third  in  netball boys and  volleyball boys and girls.  Secretary Busia  County Games and Gymnastics  Lynn Odaba  said  they did their best  despite lack of motivation to teachers who turned up in large number to cheer  Team Busia.

She exuded confidence of the team excelling at the nationals, adding that the  sky is the limit for  Team Busia.
