The Directorate is mandated:

1. To undertake Geographical Information System (GIS), Land registration, Title Surveys and Infrastructure surveys within Busia County.
2. The department also maintains an updated register/GIS database foe efficient land management
3. Others include Chief custodian of all GIS and survey data for county and advisory role on matters pertaining to land and Geospatial information.
