To achieve Universal Healthcare Coverage (UHC) under the “Big Four” Agenda, there is need to scale up the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and community health coverageinorder to achieve 100% cover for the poor.

There is also need to invest in enhancing access to essential health services through provision of infrastructure and qualified health professionals, establishment of cancer treatment and pathology centres, and Mother and Baby Hospitals.

Privately-owned hospitals should be enhanced so that citizens are not deprived of their rights in accessing health care as enshrined in the constitution. The influx of Ugandans to seek treatment at Busia County Referral Hospital and other hospitals in the county, puts a lot of pressure on already stretched health sector. Therefore need for more investment in this sector.

Plans to increase the number of farmers  from the current 1500 farmers to 5000 will lead to increased production and offer ready market for the crop instead of importing from neighbouring countries.
