County Government of Busia

"Gateway to East and Central Africa"

H.E Dr. Paul Otuoma's commitment to modernize Busia town is becoming a reality.

Through the Department of Roads and Public Works, he has fostered collaborations with agencies such as KENHA and KURA to enhance the road infrastructure within the county.

These collaborations have witnessed expansion of road network in Busia County. Latest is the expansion works of the stretch between Amukura house and Customs in Busia town. This stretch which was prone to accidents due to traffic jam, is being widened by 3.5 meters on both sides to alleviate congestion caused by trailer traffic by creating a dedicated lane for transit trucks.

This expansion project will entail overlaying the existing road including the widened surface with a 75mm thick layer of Dense Bitumen Macadam (DBM), followed by an additional 50mm layer of asphalt concrete. Additionally, the contractor will undertake the construction of side drains along the road, incorporating access culverts at strategic points. The contractor will install traffic signage and do road marking and to ensure safe and efficient traffic flow.
