Siasa Place, a local Non Governmental Organization that engages the youth on matters leadership and Governance, has rolled out a project in Busia County that targets to offer capacity building to Sub County and Ward Administrators and the youth.
The Organization Program Officer, Mr. Grayson Marwa made the revelation on Wednesday when his team held a meeting with Chief Officer in the Office of the Governor, Mr. Ezekiel Okwach.
He said they will wait for the President's address on Friday to give them the way forward whether to proceed with the training next month or not.
"We shall collaborate with the County Government to ensure the success of the project, " he said, adding that it will be cascaded to all the seven sub counties to enable the local community interact with the leaders within their jurisdiction.
Mr Okwach thanked Siasa Place for initiating different projects in the county since 2017 including supporting county barazas and undertaking training for Kenya Young Members of the County Assembly.
He pledged the county's support in whatever way to enable it succeed, noting that he had nominated Mr Sammy Omulepu, Senior Administrative Officer, as the County's lead person in the project that has also been implemented in Kisumu and Kericho.
Those present included Director Public Administration, Mr. Robert
Muganda, Butula Sub County Administrator David Sibeyo and Nambale acting SCA Frida Nekesa.
Siasa' Place's action plan includes training of the administrators and Members of the County Assembly in a three day non-residential training for 67 administrators and MCAs in Busia county.
The second will be a one day non-residential training of 50 youths aimed at building their capacity to champion public participation within the wards; others
will entail community
youth barazas and stakeholder engagement,
county reflection meetings and
community outreach via radio stations.
