Residents of Bunyala seeking services at Port Victoria Sub County Hospital are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with the construction of a maternity ward which is nearing completion.
The facility which is in Bunyala West Ward is 95 Percent Complete and will be handed over to the County Government in a week's time, according to the Contractor.
Chief Officer, Medical Services, Dr. Isaac Omeri and the acting Director Public Works Eng. John Otwani toured the area to inspect the ongoing construction works funded by the World Bank through the Kenya Devolution Support Programme (KDSP).
The one storied building with a 30-bed anti-natal and post-natal facilities upon completion will be fully equipped for its operationalization.
Dr. Omeri revealed they have already identified a supplier to deliver the equipment including 20 beds, oxygen concentrators, incubators, two delivery beds and baby warmers among others items needed at the facility.
He promised to expedite the process of upgrading the Port Victoria Sub County Hospital to Level Four status to improve healthcare services at the institution.
Eng.Otwani who represented Infrastructure Executive, Mr. Okwara Ekirapa, was impressed with the progress made by the Contractor on the project as stipulated in the Bill of Quantities.
